binutils build questions |

I download the binutils package, unpack it, make a nice "build"
directory, cd into it, run ../configure and it chugs away, configures,
then run make and it chugs away, no errors, finishes up, but it never
builds the executables.
What am I missing?
What I really want is objcopy.
OS X (Darwin 8.4.0) with gcc 4.0.1
