That library path isn't put in automatically. You'll need to add that 
manually in the GNUmakefile.preamble or GNUmakefile. Something like:

# Additional library directories the linker should search
ADDITIONAL_LIB_DIRS += -L$(GNUSTEP_OBJ_DIR)
