Hang at Welcome to GRUB! message

Hello,

I am having problem on my custom NAS system with Debian; the GRUB hangs on 
Welcome to GRUB! message. I discovered it only happens when my mouse or 
keyboard is not connected (which will be as long as this will be server in 
fact). I found some old suggestions for disabling APM and ACPI in config but it 
did not help. Any suggestions?
