Andrei, thanks a lot for showing the setpci that is not in the grub manual.I went the latter way wrapping every relevant menuentry block with your snippet.I find it easier to modify one .cfg that I (rarely) edit manually anyway. Now grub got smarter and completely stopped "interrogating" at startup.
