Perhaps it hangs because core dumps are huge? Can you find a way
to reproduce this? If it can't be reproduced easily it is hard to
fix.
Its quite simple to reproduce, either dump a couple of core dumps, or
compile libc or the Hurd. But its hard to pin point since it fubars
the box, fscks the file-system, and causes a weird reboot after
causing the system to go into a weird halt. I might take a look at
this later on.
