As far as I know, L4 performs well on AMD64 architecture; does
anyone any easy way of using Hurd on L4 with this distribution?
Unless you only want to watch the output of `banner', Hurd/L4 is
completely unsuitable for people to actually use.
(well, if not easy, at least a way to do so that does not imply
re-compiling everything or starting from scratch)
One should only need to recompile GNU Mach, and maybe the GNU C
Library. Atleast to get the system booting and being usable, you
might need to recompile anything that uses instructions not avaiable
on AMD-64, but which are avaiable on IA-32 machines (wouldn't know
what kind of instructions that would be, but anyway).
The problem is mostly in GNU Mach which is really picky about what
hardware you run it on.
