Cross compile gcc build error

i have followed the INSTALL-cross doc from the hurd cvs. binutils has built, gcc - after the first atempt it finishes with

make[2]: Target 'all' not remade because of errors.
make[2]: Leaving directory 'gnu/hurd/build/gcc-4.1.0/obj/gcc'
make[1]: *** [all-gcc] Error 2
make[1]: Target 'all-host' not remade because of errors.
make[1]: Target 'all-target' not remade becuase of errors.
make[1] Leaving directory '/gnu/hurd/build/gcc-4.1/obj'
make: *** [all] Error 2

I know there it is known to fail while trying to build libgcc2.a but I dont know how to find out
