Hey, the `-M isapc' solved this problem. I didn't know I have to use
this switch before reading your mail and the `Hurd on QEMU
wiki'(http://hurd.gnufans.org/bin/view/Distrib/HurdOnQEMU), which is
undoubtedly a must read.
Another odd thing for this: I've found that with QEMU 0.8.1 the
installation would freeze on extracting baseGNU.tgz, while 0.8.0
worked well!
I strongly recommended that the `Hurd on QEMU wiki' should be
mentioned in the Cook-book on Hurd CD.
