Hi,

Did you use the Debian CDs? I suppose this is the first start of the 
System. The only thing I can think of making Problems is the memory: 
http://www.nongnu.org/thug/gnumach_hardware.html#Memory , you should try 
GRUB's uppermem command: add uppermem 524288 beneath title or root. If 
that does not help try to start over or download the live cd from 
http://www.superunprivileged.org/hurd/live-cd/
There is a wiki with some Howtos and links to helpful pages at

Imho everything looks correct with your grub menu entry.
