The behavior with "../bb" is correct; it's the behavior of "aa" which is
wrong. The manual says:
If the makefiles specify a double-colon rule to remake a file with
commands but no prerequisites, that file will always be remade (*note
Double-Colon::).
This has been fixed in the latest source for GNU make; it works for me:
$ make aa
touch aa
$ make aa
touch aa
--
