I had the same problem, and I usually end up creating a rule and commands
that look like this:
$(TARGET_DIR)/%.a $(TARGET_DIR)/%.b $(TARGET_DIR)/%.c: %.src
my_script $<
mv $*.a $(TARGET_DIR)
mv $*.b $(TARGET_DIR)
mv $*.c $(TARGET_DIR)
Is that the end result you are looking for? I do not see how this burden
could be on make itself...
