1. Nicely written Makefile!  I like it.
2. Are you sure the .d files are not created?
3. Why do you do the $(MV) address@hidden $@ and not write directly to 
address@hidden
4. Can you reply with the actual value of $(dependencies) from one of
your real runs that doesn't work?  (And do the same for $(sources))
