If you're just looking for a working GNU make on Windows, you may want
to try some of the prebuilt binaries that available from various
places. I've found the packages from the GnuWin32 project
(http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net) to work quite well, and they're easy
to install. The GNU make package (version 3.81) is at
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/make.htm
