I need a help about make

  hi,when I use make,I find a problem.when I input "make -p",then lot's of 
default configuration will print.but when I want to find the default 
configuration file,I can't find it anywhere.I would appreciate it very much if 
you could tell me where the file is or what the file name is (my OS is ubuntu).
