I think it depends on your operating system. Under UNIX something similar
to the following will work:
LOADPATH =
".:/usr/local/lib/octave/1.1.0/m//:/usr/local/lib/octave/site/m:~/octave//:/home/matlab35/toolbox//:~/matlab//";
directories terminated by a double slash '//' are searched recursively.
