making Octave on Sun fails

When running make I get the following error:

cd liboctave ; make CXXFLAGS=-O\ -g\ -fno-for-scope all
make[2]: Makefile:117: missing separator.  Stop.
make[1]: *** [liboctave] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 1

The system is Sun Ultra, Solaris 2.5 and gcc v. 2.7.2. I have included 
the patches for gcc 2.7.0 and gcc 2.7.1. The 117th row in 
liboctave/Makefile is the last in this file and reads:

-include $(MAKEDEPS)

What can I do?
