GNU software explicitly recommends avoiding the term "open source" as it is misleading and misses the main point in Free Software. [1]
It would be a sign of appreciation for the work of those who develop Octave and believe in the principles of Free Software to respect their ideas and their
point of view and to refer to Octave as "Free" rather than "open source".
