Stem plot

Hello,


 I want to do a stem plot of the image values.The following is my code

I=imread('E:\standard_test_images\cameraman.tif');
[row,col,channels]=size(I);

y=zeros(1,10,'uint8');

x= [1:10];
y(x)=I(1,1:10,1);
stem(x',y);

I am getting a plot which is shown in the image.Why do i get such a plot?
