So does this, which uses startxwin:
  C:\Cygwin\bin\run.exe /usr/bin/bash.exe -l -c   "/usr/bin/startxwin.exe -- -multiwindow -nowgl"

This is important for using Octave under Win7,  I think.  Is there a way to document and distribute this workaround?
