invalid range

I am iterating a bunch of functions in my code where I have fixed
niter = 1.536 e-10
Then iter = 1: niter
I get an error message saying
invalid range
I tried using format long but get the same message.
What does this mean ?
I can send the code etc if needed.
Thanks
