By the way... regarding SCPI.
New stuff the instruction for the status byte is the same
New stuff= the very pricey, good looking Agilent equipment, worth more than
your first house when it was new.
Starts falling apart after 5 years....
Old stuff= old HP era instruments, still a bit pricey, but built as a tank
and it can last half a century and still work.
Say VNA 8510C, still can go to 110GHz and beyond...
Each one has its own instruction for the status byte...
