Changing plot fonts linux

Hi,

It seems that changing a font is not a trivial issue any more. This
tutorials are not working for me in 4.0.0-rc2 (after fixing the paths
to point to my ttf fonts)

I tried with gnuplot (png and pngcairo) and fltk.

set(0, "defaultaxesfontname", <font-name>)

Is also not working.

How do you change fonts in a plot?
