I'm having the same problem as was reported here 2 years ago:

Fresh install of octave on mac os yosemite via homebrew following these
instructions.

When I run this command, the plot seems do display correctly, but I get this
error:
❯❯ surf(peaks)
❯❯
gnuplot> nset view;
^
line 0: invalid command
Any suggestions?
