symbolic fsolve

Hey everyone,
  I am going to solve a system equations with symbolic characteristic. For
example I define a equation like below :
syms d

y=@(x) d*x^2+x; 
a=fsolve(@(x) y(x),[1])
but the result is:

error: operator =: no conversion for assignment of 'class' to indexed
'scalar'
error: assignment failed, or no method for 'scalar = class'
