Problem solved! I trashed the Xcode 7.3 that had been installed in my system by 
the Apple Store update mechanism, and downloaded Xcode_7.3.dmg from the Apple 
developer site. Once I reinstalled Xcode 7.3 from the dmg everything worked 
perfectly.
