thank you for your message.

I added

if ~isempty(findstr(computer,'linux'))
    EDITOR('gedit')
    edit('mode','async')
else
end 

to the ~.octaverc, but the problem remains. 

It happens only, when I invoke octave with the "--force-gui" - option, so I
guess there are some other configuration files for the gui-application.

Do you have any idea?
