I just did "pkg install -forge control" within my homebrewed Octave on Sierra. The control package compiles fine (with a few warnings). Here are some ideas for you to check: - do you have a recent Sierra version? (10.12.3 or 10.12.4 beta) - do you have a recent xcode?
