Octave UI window is blank

Hi,

 

I installed Octave v 4.2.1 from source on a CentOS 7.4 VM, and it installed successfully.

When I start the Octave UI using “octave –force-gui”, a window opens, but it’s totally blank.

Am I doing something obviously wrong?
