Ok. Got rid of that error but still get 'fitsio.h' file not found despite
having but the file in a number of directories. Looked at the Makefile and that
was no help to me either.

That should be where it is looking for the include file, so if that does not
match where the file is, then changes are, you have either a broken cfitsio
install, or using the wrong the .pc file and need to fix that issue before the
octave package has any change of compiling
