Hi,
Version 2.6.0 of the io package has just been released [1].
It contains a few bug fixes but most work was done under the hood,
overhauling code. In addition some work has been done on documentation.
Unfortunately the XML I/O functions have been remove temporarily; as
soon as bug 58004 has been fixed they'll be in again.
