[Help-tar] tar on Fedora to Drobo failing with Cannot close: Input/outpu

This happens on 1 Fedora 25 workstation backing up a tar to a Drobo NAS. 
ERROR OUTPUT:
/bin/tar: /ourserver/etc-new.tgz: Cannot close:
Input/output error
/bin/tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

STANDARD OUTPUT:
Failed to rename /ourserver/home-new.tgz to
/ourserver/home.tgz: File exists Backup of /etc FAILED Backed up /etc to /ourserver/etc-FAILED.tgz
Here’s the command in full:

in dmesg I do see occasional errors like this:
