I tried playing the dumped file with mplayer. It briefly flashed an
initial screen (the VCD manufacturer's splashscreen), then complained
that there were too many audio packets in the buffer, suggested that I
try -ni (non-interleaved) and quit. It behaved the same way with -ni.

I was able to use "cdrdao copy" to make a new copy of the VCD and I can
play that with mplayer/xine, but I assume cdrdao copied the data warts
and all, so vcdxrip had problems with the copy as well.
What I'm really looking for is to extract the mpeg file and just keep that
on my hard disk, so that I can play it without using my CD drive.
Thanks for any pointers,
