Hello Everyone!

We are in the process of writing a applications guide book
for people who are new to GNU. Our goal is to show readers
just how much fun and how powerful the GNU is and how they
can tailor GNU tools and GPL'd applications to apply to
everyday situations both at work and at home. While we are
putting this book together, we will be posting surveys
(such as the one that follows) to collect your input. We
will also post manuscript for your review and input. We
look forward to your participation and we will be most
happy to acknowledge your contributions in the book.

Since GNU was conceived and raised on the Internet, we'd
like to begin our discussion with topics of interest for
Internet users.

1) What GNU/Linux packages do you use to create a dial up
(PPP) connection? And why?

2) More and more people are switching to cable Internet
access. Can you provide some good references to help people
set up their cable connections and connect to the Internet?

3) Do you have any favorite tricks for optimizing the
speed/bandwidth of your Internet connection? What tools do
you use to measure your speed?

4) What measures do you take to keep prying eyes out of
your computer while you are surfing the Web, participating
in newsgroups, using email?

5) What is your favorite Web browser and why? What features
does this browser offer that are not found in other
browsers?

6) What email client do you use? What features does it
provide that you feel are useful and important?

7) Which newsreader do you feel provides the most features?

8) Can you recommend a good WYSIWYG Web page editor?

9) Which FTP client do you use and why?

Thanks for your input!
