Hi Darryl,

 You don't need to worry about the api_key and api_sig parameters, you
will however need to go through the webservice authentication procedure
in addition to the audioscrobbler one:

 http://www.last.fm/api/authentication

 However you don't need to authenticate twice, you can use the session
key returned from the webservice auth to authenticate with the scrobbler
if you want to. And if you want to stick with locally stored
username/password auth you'll want to look at the mobile auth section.
