Dear GetGNULinux team members,

I've had some spare time on my hands, so for the last few weeks I've
been working a bit on GetGNULinux.org and made several updates. These
are as follows:

- - Implemented language negotiation. This means that GetGNULinux.org
can now detect the visitor's preferred language as set in the language
preferences of the browser. If the translation for a preferred language
is complete, GetGNULinux.org will automatically show the web page in
that language. Currently, only two translations are completed: Hebrew
and Asturian. You can test this feature by setting the preferred
language in your browser to either of these two languages and then point
your browser to http://getgnulinux.org/. I've also created a blueprint
for this feature
<https://blueprints.launchpad.net/getgnulinux/+spec/language-negotiation>.
If you have any suggestions for this feature, feel free to discuss and
help improve it.

- - Language menu. The language menu now only shows languages for which
the translations are complete. Incomplete translations are kept on a
separate language selection page. This page can be accessed from the
language menu. If you have read the blog, you'll also know that I
removed the flag images from the menu.

- - Overall layout updates. I made some small changes to the overall
layout. The previous/next/download button effects are now done with
CSS3. And some sections are styled after sticky notes.

- - The "Linux FAQ" page has been revised. It's layout has been
redesigned. I went for a much simpler style that is easier on the eyes
(I hope). Some texts have been updated as well as they were outdated.

- - And also, most of the suggestions proposed by Fabian have been
implemented as well.

If you have any comments about these updates, or any other ideas
regarding GGL, feel free to share them.

I recently discovered the blueprints feature of Launchpad
<https://blueprints.launchpad.net/getgnulinux>. If you have an idea for
a feature or want to propose a change, you can create a blueprint for it
which can be discussed in the mailing lists before it is implemented.

I think it's also important to focus some more on the translations. It
surprised me how fast the translations for Hebrew and Asturian were
completed. So if we are able to find more translators, the translations
could be completed much quicker. The translations for the other
languages have been inactive for a while now (with the occasional
update). For example, the translation for French has been stuck at 70%
for months now. So I think it would help a lot if we can get others
involved in translation.

That's it for now.

All the best,

Serrano
