The original approach was used because it seemed the less intrusive. But
I agree with your suggestion to keep compatibility with other tools.

I think we can take this option.

This one I don't like very much. It's system specific (IMHO) and maemo
(where we tested our implementation) uses "libc.so.6" in the debuglink.
