No, not at the moment. Of course, you could add spaces at the end
of a syllable to fool LilyPond into thinking it's longer:
\lyrics { a "long " word } or \lyrics{ a long_____ word }
Send it as a feature request to bug-lilypond if you think it's
an important feature to add to the program.
