"Dim" crashes into adjoining dynamic

I have a number of cases where "dim." is colliding with the adjoining dynamic (say "pp").
The manual says that a dynamic can be given extra width with the following:
\override DynamicText.extra-spacing-width = #'(-0.5 . 0.5)
However, LP apparently doesn't consider "dim." to be a dynamic, as this does not work. What would be the comparable spacing override for "dim."?
