Being the first bar of a piece, this is not an example of a cancellation signature, as there is no prior signature to cancel.

In terms of the feature, I agree that adding it probably does little harm. 

The biggest issue would likely be that, because it is supported, someone will decide to use it, assuming that musicians would know what it means.
