[Linphone-users] oss_card_probe: can't open /dev/dsp: Device or resource busy

I'm close to cracking - linphone (0.11.0) keeps coming up with

No! It is *not* busy! I can play audio files with sox & friends happily. All
drivers appear to be loaded:

What gives? The thing is: the sound card is a ES1868, with the ALSA -
drivers as recommended. From what I've read on another location I
understand that duplex on this card is slightly iffy. Interesting enough,
when using another program called ant-phone I can only get it to cooperate
with the card by setting outgoing audio to dsp, incoming to dsp0. The joke
is of course that dsp is a link to dsp0. So to me it somehow looks like a
sound card related issue. 

It would be great if someone could fill me in here.
