I have. OK, in my config there is no NAT between linphone and the Asterisk
server.

You are shure, you dialed linphonec>sip:address@hidden Its strange
that linphone requires a ful blown sip address. Otherwise one gets the
message you got.

As said - I've had terrible Kphone problems - but none with linphone - neither
with the GUI nor command line version
That's my Asterisk configuration in sip.conf:
[testmich]
type=friend
username=testmich
secret=testmich
host=dynamic
insecure=yes ; To match a peer based by IP address only and not peer
insecure=very ; To allow registered hosts to call without
re-authenticating
qualify=1000 ; Consider it down if it's 1 second to reply
; Helps with NAT session
Nothing sexy though - just plain straight forward from the sample
configuration.
Good luck
