[Linphone-users] h.263 and mp4v-es encoding problem

I'm trying to get video conferencing working between an ibook g3 running
Debian Lenny and a Pentium-M machine running Ubuntu Hardy both with the
default install of Linphone 2.0.1

The problem seems to be on the Debian side. When I initiate a conference from either end using H263 or MP4V codecs, I get an error message like this from Debian's Linphone:

ortp-error-could not find encoder for codec id 5

On the Debian side, the video displays both local and remote. On the Ubuntu side, I'm only seeing local video.

Video works with theora and snow codecs, but it's way too CPU intensive to be useful. Because these work, I suspected is was a Debian stay away from patents deal and installed packages from debian-multimedia (libavcodec and friends), but that didn't help. The libavcodec package from debian-multimedia does not replace the one in Lenny main.

BTW, I upgraded the Debian side to unstable, Linphone 2.1 with new libavcodec and it still has the same problem.

Any idea on how I can get this working?

Randall
