Hi Martijn,
The criteria is:
no more audio RTP and RTCP packets received for at least 30 seconds.

You can change the value by editing ~/.linphonerc within [rtp] section:
[rtp]
nortp_timeout=<your value>

A value of 0 disables this mechanism.
