slackware 12.0 ! Wow ! We are in 13.0, and the 13.1 is near (some
weeks).

13.0 only bring gtk-2.14.7 and cairo-1.8.8. Very no sure you can compil
gtk-2.18.x on slackware-12.0 ... I remember a guy maintain a
gnome-minimal (only libs, not desktop, applis, ...) and this was
a torture to find the versions good with slackware.

Why not do you upgrade your Slack ?
