Good reasons
1 - gets more testing before it gets into the Debian food chain
2 - Lets people write more useful bug reports ( they can load up the latest and see it the bug is
still there).
One can just put a script in the packagename/debian folder that will pull in the the latest sources
and build a deb package.
So I would get the Debian package - make a script and automate the package
generation.
