Hi Malcolm,

Yes this is "normal".
To be able to get an incoming call while you are in background, the server has to send what is called a "push notification", and to do so it has to know where to send it.
Even if the Linphone client tells the server where to send it, almost none of them actually send the push notification.

If you want, you can create a free SIP account on our website (https://www.linphone.org) and try it with your Linphone application, you'll see incoming calls are working even if not in foreground.

Best regards.

I have successfully registered Linphone on my Nokia 620 to my 3CX pbx & incoming & outgoing calls work correctly.

However, incoming calls only work when Linphone is running in the foreground. As soon as I go to another app or the home screen incoming calls fail although Linphone is still shown as registered on the 3CX control panel.

As long as Linphone is in the foreground, even when the screen goes to sleep or i lock it, incoming calls work.

Any ideas??
