[Linphone-users] No sound from called number

I'm using Debian Stretch, so my base system gets a lot of updates.
Linphone was working perfectly a few days ago. I did the standard update/upgrade today, 2016-03-18, and Linphone now emits no sound from the called number. No ring tone, nothing. It makes the call correctly, I just don't hear what the callee is saying.

But sound is coming in from my SIP connection, because if I click on "Record", Linphone does record the sound correctly. It just doesn't send it to my headphones any more. I'm running Pulse Audio (pavucontrol version 3.0-3+b2). My Linphone is version 3.6.1-2.5. I run linphone from an xterm and it emits a bunch of messages to the xterm as follows:
-----linphone output start
ALSA lib conf.c:4738:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 0
ALSA lib control.c:954:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default:0
ALSA lib conf.c:4738:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 0
ALSA lib pcm.c:2266:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default:0
ALSA lib conf.c:4738:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 0
ALSA lib pcm.c:2266:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default:0
ALSA lib conf.c:4738:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 1
ALSA lib control.c:954:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default:1
ALSA lib conf.c:4738:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 1
ALSA lib pcm.c:2266:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default:1
ALSA lib conf.c:4738:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters 1
ALSA lib pcm.c:2266:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default:1
----linphone output end
I tried messing about with the settings in pavucontrol, muting and unmuting the sound, to no effect.
Sound works OK with other applications. For example, the .wav file that linphone creates when I click "Record" can be played back with mplayer.

Is this a known problem in linphone? Any suggestions?
