This message is telling your that linphone cannot communicate with the ALSA
device which it is
configured to use.
You need to check what ALSA sound devices, if any, are recognized and setup by
the kernel with
cat /proc/asound/cards
then you need, as you indicate you have Pulseaudio running, whether or not you
have sound to
the ALSA device output set in linphone going to an ALSA device which is already
being used
(indirectly) by PulseAudio, and thus cannot be used when PulseAudio is running.
The simple solution would be, if you are getting sounds from PulseAudio to set
the output
of linphone to Pulseaudio instead of the ALSA device which may or may not exist
(especially
if it is a USB sound card which you have forgotten to plug in).
Just to clarify since many people do not seem to understand this, sound
capablity on GNU/Linux
is a layered structure and in the inverted (ie bottom to top) representation
Physical sound card
|
kernel ALSA modules
|
/dev/snd device files
|
ALSA libraries
}
+-->ALSA user interface ---> ALSA user applications eg
alsamixer
|
PulseAudio
|
+--> Pulseaudio user interface --> PulseAudio user
applications eg pavucontrol\
It also needs to be mentioned that in many GNU/Linux distributions, it is now
standard practice to
re-route sound intended for the default ALSA device to go to PulseAudio instead
using eg
/usr/share/alsa/pulse.conf with
pcm.!default {
type pulse
etc ...
Hopw this helps to get your sound problem resolved.
