Whoops, missed that he was talking about -trace... I get it at all times.

Yeah, my fault for double mousing his message to reply. :)  ELM got
a wee bit cranky.

I just doublechecked the stty settings, and there's no "8bit" for it,
but there is "pass8" aka "-istrip"... "-istrip" is set.  I'll play around
a bit with them, see how badly I can screw up my terminal. :)
