Lynx will handle Spanish if the following are true (and in some other
conditions):
- the page is in ISO 8859-1 (the default for HTML);
- the curses library, or equivalent, is 8 bit clean (telling us
how non-ASCII characters display would help us to diagnose this and
other problems [1]);
- the connection to your terminal is 8 bit clean;
- your terminal is capable of and configured for ISO 8859-1.
[1] reverse video is indicative of a limited curses library, special but
wrong characters would indicate a wrong source or display character set;
a few examples might allow to work out which.
